When you step into Oriental Accents' showroom, you experience the genuine warmth of true Southern hospitality. Mother and daughter
team, Teresa Stanley and Carrie Phillips, owners of Oriental Accents, explained why shopping with them is a unique experience. "Buying
a rug is an investment to be enjoyed for a lifetime, something you can pass down to your children," Teresa said. "We want our customers
to feel comfortable with the rugs they purchase."
Having been in business for 20 years, Teresa and Carrie offer a tremendous selection
of attractive, quality antique and semi-antique rugs at unbeatable prices. A growing demand for rugs in recent years has attributed
to their business' growth. "People are becoming more and more aware of the beauty and appeal of older rugs like ours," Carrie said.
Oriental Accents is proud not only of its product but also its customer service. Most of their customers don't consider themselves
to be rug experts. They want to add the charm and character of handknotted rugs to their home or office and need to understand them
enough to make a wise decision. "We feel that it's important to take the time necessary to establish a level of knowledge and comfort
so our customers can make a decision which they will be happy with for years to come," explained Teresa.
In the showroom, customers
take all the time they need to shop, often bringing in paint chips or fabric swatches, narrowing down their options by comparing one
rug with another. Taking several choices home and determining how they fit the room, coordinate with surroundings, and enhance the
home is an important step. Carrie said, "We really enjoy consulting in the home and encourage clients to live with their options for
several days to determine the perfect selection."
For many, the idea of making a large purchase like buying a rug is intimidating.
"We never want our customers to feel pressured into making a purchase. We consciously attempt to overcome the stigma of intimidation
and high pressure sales that some people associate with rug shopping," Teresa said. "We want to earn the trust of our customers. It
all comes back to education and forming a genuine relationship."
Teresa commented, "We are a multigenerational business, and our rugs
become cherished family heirlooms to be enjoyed for generations to come."
